66 KV Substations
Client: Ministry
of electricity & Water
Consulting Engineer: MEW-ESBI
Main Contractor: CEBARCO BAHRAIN SP
Location: six locations throughout Bahrain
Contract Period: 8 Months
Contract Completion: September 2003
Value: US $ 4,200,000
Description:
The project comprised of the construction of six 66KV
main substations in various locations throughout Bahrain.
The project was part of the Ministry’s infrastructure
upgrading project.
The substations are of reinforced concrete construction
complete with basement where incoming HV cables terminate
with switchgear. The main switchgear is located in an
air-conditioned environment and is supported by various
control rooms, battery rooms and the like.
The project required careful coordination as several of
the substations were built in existing HV electrical
facilities. Also as separate contracts were awarded for
GIS, transformers and cable installation scheduling the
hand over of the works was a critical factor of success.
Cebarco guaranteed that the installation contractors were
always given access ahead of schedule.
